LIMESTONE

As Taguanao contains sedimentary rock formations, limestone is the most abundant mineral within the area, having broad applications in construction, industry, agriculture, and the environment. This is often found in elevated and hilly lands.

  • Properties:

Limestone is a soft to medium-hard sedimentary rock, composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), soluble in water, and can be white, gray, or tan in color.


  • Economic Uses and Importance:

Limestone is widely used in construction, for building material and cement or lime production; agricultural, for soil condition and fertilization; industrial, for job creation, steel or glass production, and water treatment; environmental, for greenhouse gases emissions mitigation.
